Peter,
You might want to bring out a tree surgeon to check out your other trees.  I
had a 60 year old pine tree decide to snap off 12 feet in the air and fall
toward the house.  Fortunately the tree was only 100 feet tall and the house
is 155 feet from the tree. :)
