Exposure should be measured as in all dSLR's or the M6/7 - via a cell 
in front of the shutter.

White balance, in all dSLR's is measured using several rows of cells 
that form a border around the "useable pixels".  These are measured, 
during processing, before storage, and the results are applied to the 
"usable pixels" or photograph.  Thus, no white balance work is done 
prior to the shutter opening.  This will likely be the same method 
used in the M8d.
