Hi Gary!

Some people have made fun of my research, and even called this a 
"joke photo".  But my sources are impeccable, and I believe the photo 
to be quite accurate.

Given the recent difficulties which Leica has gone through, this is 
the best that their engineers could come up with, given the current 
financial restraints!

Certainly, it lowers the cost of production, so as to restore the 
firm to a profitable footing.

In these days of lower price/ lower expectations, it seems Leica feel 
that nobody will notice any change in design/build quality.  ;-)

If I hadn't been "caught in the vault", I'd have got a shot of the 
back, showing the revolutionary 7" (diagonal) LCD screen which folds 
out of the back, for occasional - if somewhat awkward - use!
