Hi Mark.
That doesn't sound normal. You ought to have discrete, crisp clicks at each
f stop (and I think half f stop)and no play at all, just smooth travel.
No way it should be sloppy. Definitely worth seeking a professional opinion
from a reputable repairer, wherever you are.

Cheers
Hoppy

Subject: [Leica] 35 Summicron Aspheric aperture ring

Hello Everyone,

I am a new member have been lurking on the lug for a while now and am loving

the interaction. I am thoroughly in love with Leica glass. This is my first
post.

I just purchased a used chrome Aspheric 35 cron and notice the aperture ring

has some play/slop in it.

It works correctly but I am wondering if this is normal. The lens is in
beautifull condition otherwise -no dents, nice glass, etc so I am thinking
this is normal play within the ring.

Anyone have experience with this?

Thanks,

Mark
