I like the 24" iMac, but I'm not sure how I feel about it as a value.
With the 7600GT (a requirement IMO, if you're going to use Aperture,
or if you'll be running Windows in Boot Camp for the occasional game)
and 2GB of RAM ($200-something from Apple, $170 aftermarket), it's a
$2300ish computer, which places it up against some well-specced
machines from Dell and Gateway.

But with the iMac, you're using a laptop chip and laptop graphics card
(that will be incrementally slower than a PC desktop using the Core 2
desktop line and desktop graphics), with no upgrade or expansion
options (hard drive being the big one for me) - making it a computer
that will wear out its useful life relatively fast.
