Most digital cameras that shoot raw, including the M8, do it this 
way. I shot quite a bit with raw+jpeg in B&W; jpeg to have some quick 
images to deal with and because my cataloging software, iView, 
doesn't handle DNG properly :-(. The jpegs of course are only B&W, 
while the raw  (DNG) files have all the colour info and can be 
tweaked later. With SD cards becoming cheaper, that's the way I would 
always shoot B&W. Unless Leica comes out with a dedicated B&W only 
M8mono!!!  ....hint, hint!
