Hoppy,

I live under a lot of oak trees, and, each Fall, the gutters would clog up 
with leaves.  After years of getting out the ladder and cleaning the 
gutters, I removed all gutters except for a few in critical places.  Now, I 
can clean those short runs in about ten minutes.  The one in the picture 
empties a valley away from the chimney, and gives me a good guage of the 
rate at which the rain is coming down.
