Tom, if the LUG volunteers to supply one example of each possible lens to 
me, I promise to publish a picture of each lens mount and
maintain the database into perpetuity. Regarding the milling, I think you 
will need an indentation, since paint on the mount surface
would quickly wear, and could bind or even effect the collimation?

Who wants to keep the data base of lens codings?  Maybe you don't  
even really ned to mill it, just paint.
