The Epson R-D1 body has been made by Cosina Voigtlander, based on the Bessa
R3a. Epson designed the electronic stuff, did the final assembling (where
the often mentioned RF disalignement happened), the spotty QC and the dodgy
support. It's not likely Epson would allow CV to re-release it under another
name.

I could wish an affordable Epson/CV R-D2 with 21-25-28-35-50 framelines
(like the announced Bessa R4), the Nikon D200 sensor, an inbuilt grip
(making space for a larger battery) and a strongly improved QC. But more
likely is that CV has given up Epson and is planning a DRF together with
Zeiss.
