Getting such positive commentary from this talented crowd is very nice indeed! Thank you. I am definitely a member of the "Peeling Paint" school of photography and I've been criticized for it in the past (too static, lifeless, clich?d). My eye is always catching what I call secondary images; shadows and reflections, which I like to use as compositional components. These two pictures are pretty straight ahead pictorials but what I really like to do is extract interesting (to me anyway) graphic elements from a wider scene and give the viewer the task of first identifying what the textures, shadows, etc, in reality are, and then, hopefully... appreciate the craft. I - along with everyone else carrying a camera in the 60-70s - had my "Photography/metaphysics Minor White/Ansel Adams Zone and Zen" period where I labored over every exposure to the point of removing all the life from my pictures. Boring! Now, abandoning the tripod and just trying to be reactive to my first impressions of a scene is the challenge. If you all recall, I recently asked for advice on selecting a digital camera to replace my M series stuff. Yesterday I ordered a D Lux 3 (in chrome...black is not to be found) and await its arrival with much trepidation. I've got a whole lot of learning to do! I downloaded the instruction manual..... Eeeeeesccch. I am clueless of 90% of the nomenclature. I assume there are photographers worth of high admiration doing their art with D Lux or equivalent cameras and I'd like to check their work out (for the appreciation thereof, and for the reassurance that it can be done. Can anyone offer suggestions of any photographer's work I ought to be checking out? Assuming I can figure this new camera out to the point where I can actually capture images and transfer them to the web, I'll offer a few up for your critique. We shall see what we shall see. Again guys... Thanks Cheers Jack Jack McLain In the desert near Maricopa, Arizona "But It's a Dry Heat!"
