Subject: [Leica] Converting software/SilkyPix

LUG:

I've been doing some experimenting with different
convertors for Raw files. I'm trying out Capture
One, Lightroom, Adobe Bridge, Bibble, and
Silkypix. So far, Silkypix is by far the
best. It looked so much better than the others
that I replaced the Vegetable Market photo on
pbase after I saw how Silkypix converted
it. There are not many instructions with
Silkypix and the manual is a poor translation of
Japanese. Does anybody know why SP does a better
job than the more expensive, better known
software programs? What is it doing with so few
controls to make such a
difference? Unfortunately, it doesn't support
the DNG files from the newest Leica camera. It
does support the DNG files from the R8 and
R9. Why would DNG be different? I thought it
was supposed to be more or less universal and not camera dependent.
Does anybody know anything about Ichikawa Software Company?
