When Alastair sends me the links directly (not via the LUG), with and 
without the <>
They are not broken and do work correctly. I have Outlook 2003 (as you know).
Clearly there is a lot I don't understand about mail programmes.

No, there is no space in Alastair's folder name.
The space is put there by Alastair's mail sending program, breaking what it 
sees as a long line into two shorter pieces.

I'm intrigued that Nick Roberts' mail program can't read the broken lines 
even when the URLs are surrounded by <...>. That is as
non-standards-compliant as breaking the lines in the first place.
