Subject: [Leica] New Question about the 2006 LUG Yearbook
From: jshul at comcast.net (Jim Shulman)
Date: Wed Dec 13 11:39:41 2006

A LUGger just posed the question,
"If I submit a picture for the book, am I obligated to buy one? I'm
drowning in photo books right now."

The answer: NO, YOU ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO BUY ANYTHING!
While I called it our "yearbook", this isn't like the old High School
yearbooks that required a certain print order.

The beauty of micropublishing is that there is no investment required. The
books are printed individually, upon an order. If none sell, that's no
problem for me. If one sells, that's fine. If a hundred sell, that's fine
too. There's no school sponsor browbeating you to buy one "for the sake of
our class and school spirit."

I'm happy just assembling the thing, provided that we have enough
submissions (at least 30, or less than 3% of the LUG list) to make it
interesting.

So far, after two days, we're at eight. Only 22 to go!
