Carl Zeiss Jena introduced their folding 8x, 21mm
TURMON folding monocular in 1923. This is still
in production today, though it is now made by
Docter Optic Technologies (a Zeiss subsidiary,
mind you) at the former Zeiss plant at Eisfeld.

83 years in continuous production, the only
difference being the addition of lens coatings
and some cleaning up of the housing. Oh! And
Docter occasionally sparkles up the mix by making
a run in an off-color such as passion pink, for
those wishing to make a fashion statement ...

These are grand monoculars and their sheer
longevity means much, as these puppies have continued to sell for 83 years.
