Subject: [Leica] Wireless Question

Most likely a capacitor blew up.  They sound that way when they short out.  
We used to charge them up and throw them into a metal cage to hear them pop. 
 Cheaper than fire crackers/cherry bombs, and somewhat safer.  ;-)
