Subject: [Leica] M8 - Noctilux focus shift

I am seeing the sharp focus point about 2" behind where I focus using
the M8 and Noctilux. I ran a test using the focus chart at 45 degrees
and a little over a meter away and find the focus is about 30mm
behind where it should be. Shooting stationary objects about 10 feet
away the focus is about 2" behind. I purchased this lens new and as a
special order from Leica exactly 1 year ago. I have run resolution
tests using the USAF test charts, b&w film, in a M7 at a distance of
8 feet from the lens. No problems. I'll run them again with the M8
and the M7. I see this with available light and with flash. The same
test with the M8 and 75/1.4 is dead on. The 50/1.4 Summilux Asph is
perfect.

We may have seen a hint of this with Tina's and Brian's candle shots.
If I shift my focus closer the way I would with IR, the photos are
perfect. Unfortunately I don't have a 60mm hot mirror filter to see
if that corrects it.

I'll upload the Noct and 75 focus test charts if anybody wants to see
them.
