Subject: [Leica] photographing the homeless

Nick,
  Yes, good point, I agree with you, the photograph does work because it 
shows 
the humanity of the subject, whom we would never think of as homeless, if 
Kyle 
didn't include a description of the guy.

  It is a conundrum, if we show pictures of homeless people that match the 
pictures in your brain, we're seen as showing mere cliches. If we show you a 
photograph of a homeless person who doesn't appear to be homeless, we're 
showing his individual humanity. It seems to me that everyone has to work at 
recognizing all pictures of human beings as showing humanity, instead of 
dismissing some as cliches.

So if it's a cliche it's OK, but if Kyle actually makes us think about the 
individual 
nature of homeless people it's not? 

What's most ironic of all is that this pic of Kyle's actually does precisely 
what you 
and Adam are (correctly) asking for, IMHO.
