Hewes 35mm reels ( the JOBO ones at least) do not have clips.  They use a 
pair of prongs that grab the sprocket holes.

No clips, damned or not.

I just found some Hewes 35mm stainless steel reels at Amazon.com ($28). But
from the photo, I can't tell if they have the same damned clip as the
Samigon.
