Steve, I have a Powerbook G4 17" with USB 1.0. So far, I have found  
no firewire reader so far, but there is a PC-Card (ex-PCMCIA) reader  
for SD/MMC/etc that should be sensibly faster than USB 1.0, even if  
not as fast as 2.0 or FW.
