If the shutter switch signals the microprocessor to begin the exposure
sequence - at it seems is likely - this ought to be possible.  The R8 can
do stuff like this DMR or no, i.e., the mirror pre-release is activated by
pressing the shutter release and the second press of the shutter release
starts the exposure sequence.
