In my neighborhood which is the west 100's there are 6000 Spanish speaking
people who speak Spanish and no English. And plenty more who DO speak
English. I had Peruvian dinner the other night. We have a real Spanish multi
culture around here. And a fair amount of Portuguese.
I got Cervantes's Don Quixote in a new translation by Edith Grossman and
Zorro by Isabel Allende. Which to read first? Tomorrow I go to the Apple
store on 5th avenue and chose from 6 different learn Spanish speaking
software, How to find out which might be the best one? Then I'll read
Cervantes's in Spanish. And a few others. Lorca maybe.
I have no TV here but go to see lots of films. My favorite are Spanish
mainly. My main favorite had been French. But Aldomovar's my favorite
director and there are plenty others from over there who are hard to beat.
Bu?uel. There are still a few Spanish flicks I've not even seen. Like
Labyrinth with my favorite actress just about Ariadna Gil . The one with the
mustache in the smash hit Belle ?poque. Who was more interesting even than
Pen?lope Cruz. Saying a lot.
It's the real West Side Story here.

I listen to a lot of Pablo Casals from my Itunes.
I don't think any of its in stereo.
