Hi,

We decided to make 40x50cm prints for this exhibition.
I thought why not print them myself in the darkroom. That's what it is for.
I've never made such big prints though. I didn't even know if it is
possible with my equipment.
I've never really mastered the art of print spotting. Therefore I was
quit nervous about any dust showing up.
Today I've made the first three prints form the 35mm negatives.
My focomat 1c was at the utmost top of it's column but it managed to
make full 40x50 prints. My trays are one size too small so I had to get
them through the chemicals by hand. I had to make a custom easel from a
piece of wood.
But it works! And no dust. Although I had to do one print 3 times.
It really is satisfying. Not only because it is around 10 times cheaper
than an commercial print but also because I manage to do the whole
process from visualization to exhibition myself.
Tomorrow I will start with the medium format negatives. These should be
easy compared to the 35mm ones.
