OK Graham, I get it now.
So to sum up : boots, I've got them boots too.
Bag and gear - I carry some on occasions. And,
and I also have the lion tamer's hat with big neon letters ;-) .

But you have the talent and the technique. So my technical question is 
about how you measure light when you have so much contrast, so as to 
preserve details as you do.
My shot - thanks for the compliment -suffered from this, and from bad 
grainy film among other things.
Do you measure the shadow parts? the brightest? Do you trust the camera 
(OT and M alike) for it?
Sorry to insist, but you might save me a few miles if I knew the answers.
