I had the same feelings about starlings until we got to know one;^)
At an old home of ours, there was a starling with a bum left leg. It
was useless and just stuck out to the side, like it was signaling a
left turn.
Lefty nested in the house behind ours for several years. I always
admired its tenacity, and it made me go a little easier on the
species. I was glad we moved on before he did.
