It is very creative and drew me in, especially once I realized this was a table and blinds with tea candles that had been rotated. This was leaps and bounds ahead of anything else I saw. 2nd - Hot Lips I'm sure there is an interesting story behind this one. For me, the flat lighting on the face made this a non-contender. Obviously, the other judges disagreed with me. This subject has definite potential, but I do not think it was realized by this exposure. 3rd - Kristy prep Nice light. Engaging photo. This should be one of the top ones from this month. HM - desert flower Reminds me of Japanese paintings. Intriguing. I would have rated this one higher if the background hadn't been blown white. With a sky blue background, I think this would really pop and would have been my choice for #1. HM - 1004 (butterfly) If it were up to me, I would have made this the #2 image. The only thing I don't like is how the left antenna is out of focus. I like how the aqua color of the background matches with the stripe on the wings. For lack of a better term, I like how everything is angled. If you draw a line through the main parts, they would all come close to intersecting off to the right. HM - Northern Flicker This does not do anything for me. I would rather see the flicker from the front, rather than looking at his butt. The branch at the very top detracts. Good exposure and focus.
