Hi Luis

I've only ever used Vuescan, but my suggestion would be to try setting the
black and the white points to a low value - say .1 - this will give a very
flat, low contrast, looking scan but all the detail that Vuescan is capable
of extracting should be there. You'll then have to play around with
levels/curves in Photoshop of course to restore the contrast, but _you_ will
be deciding the look of the final image rather than the scanning software.

This is my standard technique when scanning.
