Yep, it should be doable.  When I coach, I stand right behind (of course)
the shooter so I can see as much of the shot string as possible as it
intercepts the bird.  Can't do it in all lighting conditions.  That plus
duct-taping their head down to the stock so they don't raise up (same as in
tennis, golf, pool etc.) and there is usually quick improvement.
