Very uncomfortable to look at. The current LFI has an interview with Mr Lee 
(Leica CEO). He mentions personally signing a letter of
apology to each M8 owner affected by problems. Let's all sincerely hope that 
this failure is an isolated incident from some
extraordinary circumstance.

I am not a metallurgist nor do I play one on tv.  I have no idea if this 
is a rare event or something to fret over.

I looked at my own base and it looks fine (solid, it appears) but what 
do I know?
