Took a trip to Portland, OR. Bought my wife a camera (Olympus 410), visited
a few waterfalls in the Columbia Gorge and then returned to Yakima via Mt.
St. Helens. Here are a few shots, mostly waterfalls.

There are three pages (sorry)

If you are interested in Mt. St. Helens, be aware that the Coldwater Ridge
visitors center will be closed in early November due to lack of funds. It
is not to open again. The Johnston Ridge Observatory will remain open as
long as visitors support it. Having lived through the eruption living in
Eastern Washington and getting burried in 4 inches of ash, I had visited the
east side of the mountain (Windy Ridge) fairly often, but had never gone to
the west side entrance and the two above mentioned visitors centers. The
views from that side are remarkable. Much closer than Windy ridge. And now
is as exciting as it gets as the mountain is actively building the dome.
Not a process like Hawaii or other lava spitting volcanoes, but exciting
none the less to a (retired) science teacher. So, get your cameras up there
and see what can be seen. The panorama on page 1 of photos is made of 7
images.
