Jim,

This is a lovely photo of not only an interesting paint job but a  
classic aircraft. I remember the last flight I took in one. I believe  
it was in the late 60's. I don't remember where the flight originated  
from but we landed in Rochester, NY. I remember having to pay an  
airport tax. I didn't think that was a fair tax. I believe it was  
done away with shortly afterwards. I think the Gooney Bird is still  
flying in some parts of the world today.
