Your comments are very kind, on these serie I was not looking to shot great
pics, I want only document - for our historical and future generations
memmory - a very sad moment. When some simbols of our society disappear...,

Luis, interesting close up detail in the first. I'd like to see the whole
sign.
The second has a fascinating building, and senoritas!
The sixth is clever. Here we have a print of Mona Lisa, it has fifty percent
discount and still the man must just take his own photo!
They are all full of interest. It is a little sad to see the owner
surrounded by customers as he watches his shop close down. Your pictures
tell the story well.
My favourite poster is in the last picture. It seems to be a rare self
portrait by a famous Catalaan photographer. I am sure that it would be very
valuable.

Salud!
Hoppy

Hi all,

The ?Estamper?a Artigues? was a very old shop specialised on selling ancient
postcards and art reproductions, maybe the oldest European shop on this
speciality, founded in 1789, closed the shop last May 2007. As the owner,
Mr. Joan Artigues explained to the press, meanwhile in Europe such shops are
protected, here they can be closed without any protection.

It seem that the official reason is because the old building ? which belongs
to the Catholic Dioceses of Barcelona ? menaces a danger of ruin, as far as
I know, no other opportunity was offered to the owner than closing. Some
people say that in the restored building will be a tourist business, of
course the rent will be much higher than the actual was. Today, three months
later, we can?t appreciate any trace of works neither protection to the
dangerous building on ruin danger.

The local press has denounced, not strongly, the facts, but on the other
hand I can?t remember any sensibility from the politics, on these days it
was Local Elections.

This modest photographic documentary shows the last day, with sold at
attractive discounts. Many people went to visit, support and purchase some
things. An interesting common fact on these images is that nobody seems
happy, the most common expressions are of sadness.

Beside the tourist images promoting Barcelona, my city has lost an important
identity symbol.

Pictures taked with : Leica MP, and Leica lenses Elmarit 2,8/21mm, Summilux
1,4/35mm, Summilux 1,4/50mm, Summilux 1,4/75mm. Film Kodak Tri-X 400 ASA

I've posted the album "ESTAMPERIA ARTIGUES":

Saludos desde Barcelona
Luis
