Christopher,

the reason is not the CV. It is PS. In burning in bits and pieces of the 
picture
(particularly the lower quarter and then attempting to even up the whole a 
bit
the vignetting - which was also there in the original neg - was exaggerated. 
I
quite liked it so left it in.
