Stabilization helps in the shutter speed range between hand-holdable and
subject motion blur; I find that the shoulder stock & monopod do the job
too. The 100% crops I posted a few days ago were made with the shoulder
stock & monopod. The Wild Turkey photo was made with a reasonably fast
shutter speed, while the owl and ram photos were made at a 1/125 sec shutter
speed. With non-moving animals (i.e., a squirrel keeping cool in the shade
of a parked car) I've occasionally used shutter speeds like 1/15 sec with
the 280, shoulder stock & monopod with good results.
