Did anyone think to just ask Leica the answer to this ongoing guessing game
and get an answer?

I guess the question is just how much coverage do the current R lenses
cover?  I would venture a guess that they cover an area larger thanthe
current format requires just to make sure there is no cut off at the
corners.
