Hi Simon,

Liveview can be swell under unexpected conditions - I don't know if your 
camera provides that feature , but with mine, LV allows to double the 
focal length if you choose not to shoot RAW, and use medium quality. 
Don't ask me about the technical details, which I totally ignore. But 
here's the result of some experiments, shot hand held with a consumer 
oly lens.

I've also been extremely pleased when using the macro elmarit and LV.
