If you have Photoshop (even elements can do it) , you can apply a tag to the 
ones you either want or don't want.  (a star rating in PS Elements), then 
select on the basis of the rating to gather, show and delete only the files 
you wish to delete. I don't think you can automate it across file types 
though.

You could try a little free download called  AntiTwin  - it automatically 
searches your directories for duplicate files and you can set it to find 
file numbers while ignoring the file type.

It also shows a thumbnail of the file you select for deletion.

It is an absolute godsend for Lightroom Users who have inadvertently made 
several copies of their files in different locations (like I did until I 
more or less got the hang of LR)

Unfortunately it can also be a very dangerous program if you let it search 
your whole machine - so be careful just what settings you use.
