As an R8/R9 guy, I must protest this cruel hoax by Leica. (just barely
written in jest...)

So many other cameras to choose from, so little time to study them and
so much spin on a product that may never go beyond prototype.

This new R - should it ever be launched ? will have to be a straight
ahead kick-ass camera that captures the imagination of not just white-
haired old farts like me, but working photojournalists and others who
make their living on such equipment.

Anything less will be deeply discounted in less than year from launch,
sorry to say. I certainly won't buy one unless it hits the mark with
most of the features we noted during the LeicaReflex group survey last
year.

I'm not holding my breath - I'm just not paying attention on purpose
until they produce a noteworthy digital R.

I know and really enjoy my R8 and R9 and the 28-90 and 70-180 are
everything Leica said they would be. Anything less in a digital
version of these bodies is of no interest to me.

Do I hope they pull it off? You bet.

Bob

WARNING, please disregard post if speculation annoys you.

I was just checking my subscription to LFI when I noticed an ad for
the LFI
issue to correspond with Photokina.

What should I see in the issue index but:

Cover photo by DMR/R9

Photographer with DMR/R9 article on aesthetic imagery

R system digital article

Photojournalist article about why he loves his digital R

R lenses, the heart of the R system.

Photographer article on experimentation with DMR by landscape
photographer

Whatever can these mean!! Go ahead and get all unsettled and
speculative you
R guys!

Cheers

Geoff
