You are right there, George.  

I often take the 'random image' walk through the LUGallery for inspiration
and just now came across what I think is the same flower as yours, taken 2yr
ago, maybe the photographer can confirm

I quite agree with you that quick reflexes often make the photo.
Yet, too often I also look at "my take" and say to myself,
"I should have kept working that subject" or
"I should have taken the time necessary to get what I wanted."
Of course there's also the, "I knew I got it in the first frame."

Bottom line:
Nothing we say will ever be the whole truth.
We're lucky to capture a fragment of truth; whether with words or  
photographs. :~)
