The food was plentiful and great, the work was physically demanding, the air was clean and crisp and I hated leaving. I also lost five unwanted pounds, and was able to temporarily discontinue my daily pain meds (arthritic shoulder) and allergy meds. On my return to the Sacramento area I paused in the Sierra Valley south of Portola CA for a few bird photos, including this male Ruddy Duck in breeding plumage: http://www.wildlightphoto.com/birds/anatidae/rudu00.html This photo shows his typical posture, with the tail held wee out of the water. Technical stuff: R8/DMR, 560mm f/6.8, shoulder stock & monopod, probably UET-R. 1/3000 sec @ f/6.8. All comments welcome.
