The number one reason folks don't like their Summarit is that they have an
example that has not been cleaned and/or has the front element abraded to
flare heaven. The oils that Leica used to lubricate these lenses left an
obnoxious film inside the lens that degraded the image a lot.

I had mine cleaned and recoated about four years ago and like the lens very
much. I would use it far more except that I now mostly use the Summilux
ASPH for a walk around lens.

But, the Summarit has a very unique look to it and even with a $200 overhaul
you can get one for not much. Wide open it has a sharp/blur look that is
similar to the Zeiss Softar's. Stopped down 2 stops you are good to go with
some flare that can be used creatively.

Other lenses in the 50mm segment that I would highly recommend would be a
Zeiss Opton 1.5 Sonnar and a second generation Summiilux.

Thanks for asking.
