The G9 is quite a capable camera with 12.1 MP raw image size. Exposure and white balance are accurate. There is a little bit of lag when zooming the lens. Some distortion at the widest focal length (35) and loss of max resolution when zoomed out to 210mm. The battery seems to last forever. Great little travel camera that feels like a brick. It has an optical viewfinder but the image is a bit dim. Useful when sunlight washes out the LCD image. Putting an external 35mm viewfinder on the hot shoe speeds makes street photography a bit faster. The Ricoh GRD (now succeeded by the GRD 2) has a fixed 28mm focal length lens that is also great for street photography. Small enough that most people don't notice you have a camera. Reminds me of the Olympus XA but digital. A great accessory is Richard Franiec's grip. Almost mandatory. It's an inexpensive adhesive grip to make holding the camera more comfortable and secure.
