Simon,

Yes, An Aga "Cooker".  I used one when I worked in the UK.  It is always 
on and hot. 24/7.

The expressions "carbon footprint" and "green" come to mind  My wife and 
I were considering one
when we we re-do our kitchen next month, but decided Viking was  greener.
