Subject: [Leica] lightroom naming question

I would like to know if LR can rename files at all ;-) My other question 
from this weekend, is you can convert the image to DNG, but can LR convert 
it to JPG and keep the rest of the information etc. I have hundreds of 
scanned tiffs now, and want to convert some to jpg but leave them in "order"

How can I use lightroom to rename a file with the name being the "date
shot"?  Can't seem to figure it out.
