Oh, it gets better, Tina.

NBC manipulated the order of the entry during the walk of nations so
the US team entered later than they really did. Those who "know"
observed the US team standing in the infield BEFORE they were shown to
enter the stadium.

Yes, it's entertainment, but sports coverage is news coverage and the
opening of the Olympic Games is reportage. Except when it isn't.

It's clear that NBC can't handle the difference and are in league with
a government equally interested in blurring the boundaries between
what is real and "created".

It's distressing but given the folks running the US networks these
days, hardly surprising.
