Thanks very much both for looking in on this stuff and for your  
gracious compliment.  Funny you should raise this issue; here's why.

When we were in San Fran we went to the DeYoung Museum and saw (among  
other things) an exhibit of platinum prints of plants shot 100 years  
ago by a guy named Edwin Hale Lincoln.  This stuff had me in tears,  
it was so beautiful.
I'm currently working on a calendar for a place in Elk which will  
include some of the snaps you saw and, after seeing those prints at  
the museum I was starting to get the feeling that I don't have the  
stones to be subtle.  So, I've been leaning towards the less-contrast- 
&-saturation end of the spectrum.  Yeah, I know I ain't doin'  
platinum prints and that a color calendar is a different animal; it's  
still good to be reminded that what we do is always partially about  
using the right tool for the job.

Next week I'll likely hammer down some of the flower shots for this  
calendar into JPEG format and see what folks think about the high/low  
contrast/saturation thing.

Now if I could only get this Nikon scanner to cooperate with the  
fancy hi-rez filum (with the nice color response & tonality) I could  
get to work on the poster...
