tough call
the original crop
certainly feels most successful
due to the color balance
found in the browns and greens
of the background
repeating in the bird

more of the brown
in the square
works best for my eyes

had you not discussed
the ruffled feathers and their cause
I'd stick with the square

having learned of the cause
my attention has been
and will forever be drawn to reason

I tend to prefer seeing both 'shoulders'
in the horizontal
to losing the one
in the vertical
