Subject: [Leica] M8 firmware upgrade

Gee guys I always hate to tell you things from the olden golden days and
flying when it really was fun. But here. :-)

When flying overseas and just before check in we'd go find the lockers, you
remember lockers did exist in every airport?

Open the locker, put all the heavy carry on photo gear in and lock it, then
go check in. Having probably put close to 50 lbs of lenses and motor drives
off the shoulders.

In those days everything was weighed together, carry on and checked at the
same time so you really had to be careful how much you were carrying on yer
back.

Once cheeked in and tags on shoulder bags we'd return to the locker re-load
stuff and off to departure gate.

On one flight to Paris we had so much photo gear and bags the extra cost was
as much as the airfare! Good thing the client was paying the bill. However
they did raise their eyebrows a tad when the invoice went in and asked, "OK
what was her name?" :-) No there wasn't anyone, honest! ;-)

Clive,

Some of the airlines impose a carry-on limit of 10 kg (22 lbs) but

some, like Easyjet, now have no weight limit (within reason, as they

say). Among those that do impose a limit, enforcement varies from

airline to airline, and from airport to airport, as you have noted.

Cheers,

Nathan
