Here's a though about G10 and G9::

Couple of months ago I bought a G9 for $ 250.00 (Canon Factory
Refurbished) from Canon under their Customer Loyalty Program. It
arrived "as new" with all the cables, software cd, manual, etc. It
too is built like a brick.

I opted to spend and extra $ 100.00 rather that pay $ 150.00 to
replace the display, which was dying.

I use it primarily for my Landscape Restoration business to take
"before" and "after" photos.

But it also goes with me everywhere (I know better than to leave my R9
kit with the 70-180 APO in the truck) and has taken some avery
respectable shots of family, events and Land and Seascapes. I hope to
have time to hit the woods with the G9 on a tripod for some serious
photography time.

For what it is, and what I paid, I'm very satisfied and have no regrets.

Watch the ads in your area for much better pricing on the G9 as the
G10 rolls out into stores.

Also, check out the G9 Site on Flickr. Some really good images there
for your consideration.

And no, the G9 is nowhere in the league of my 28-90 Asph when it comes
to flare (or price). But for $ 250 bucks, how can I complain?

I never shoot RAW. I don't need to.
The color and tonality from the G10 matches what comes out of my Canon
DSLR.
The Panasonic images, however, still have that vacuum formed plastic
look to them.
At the high end, the noise level is still unacceptable from both the
G10 and LX-3.
Though at 400-800 the Canon can give acceptable images for web work.
At this point I'll wait for other options for a wider lensed P&S.
