My 300mm f/4.5 Nikkor *ED AI (non-IF) is in similar condition.  A friend
purchased it new, sold it to my father, who gave it to my brother, who once
packed it in his luggage where the TSA got hold of it & put several
scratches in the front element (along with breaking the camera it was
attached to).  I don't see a difference in the pictures.
