You're absolutely right--just as Chris Williams is right that his
technically "obsolete" 4meg D2h produces great images--but then again we're
dealing with consumer expectations on a prosumer camera.  When the
competition one-ups the specs, it's time for a new product.  

There are other considerations, too--especially if you have a sizeable
collection of Nikon (or, in the case of the Sony, Minolta) mount lenses.
Often a lens investment determines the next body, irrespective of pixel
count.

 From what my dealer told me that 22MP camera doesn't mean you get  
great pictures. I'll stick with my D700 thank you. Watch for the  
Nikon announcements next week.
